Rope

Duke Energy Theatre

Queen City Theatre Company brings to Charlotte the regional premiere of the provocative thriller Rope by Patrick Hamilton. Rope was brought to the screen originally in 1948 by Alfred Hitchcock and has been successfully revived twice on the London stage in 1992 and most recently in 2009.
Rope is a classic thriller and yet it is one of the most provocative thrillers ever written due to the homoerotic connotations throughout the play and the obvious homosexual relationship between the two main characters. This was no doubt a factor that made the show one of the most controversial ever written and precursor of many other similar plays and movies throughout the century that explore the intricate human relationships and minds. A provocative homoerotic thriller that will have the whole city talking.
