CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 19, 2013) – Concord-based ACN descended on Center City Charlotte Feb. 15 – 18 for its Annual International Convention and Training at Time Warner Cable Arena, where it celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the company. This was the seventh time ACN has tapped the Charlotte region to host events since 2009. The convention drew approximately 18,000 attendees that contributed $3.2 million in direct spending and $6.3 million in economic impact. Among many speakers that were drawn to rally attendees, Donald Trump and Jay Leno were on hand at special events.
“The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority was pleased to welcome ACN’s 18,000 independent business owners to Charlotte once again,” says Visit Charlotte Executive Director Mike Butts. “We are extremely thrilled to have one of our local companies continue to showcase the city by bringing one of their marquee events to their hometown, ultimately supporting our economy and the many hospitality jobs in our community.”
ACN is the world’s largest direct seller of telecommunications, energy and other essential services that operates in 23 countries in North America, Europe and Asia. Over the years that ACN has selected Charlotte to host, events have drawn anywhere from 12,000 to 25,000 attendees. Attendees have also donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte year after year during each event. ACN then matches those donations dollar for dollar. During the last day of the convention on Sunday, a check for $134,358 was presented to the local non-profit.
