The N.C. Transportation Museum will immerse visitors in Civil War history with the 2015 Lincoln Funeral Train, pulled by the Leviathan locomotive. It's an amazing recreation of the engine and car that transportation the remains of the nation's 16th President from Washington D.C. to Springfield, Ill. in May of 1865. The N.C. Transportation Museum presents a full weekend, including a special dinner and concert from the Huckleberry Brothers Friday night, train rides pulled by the Leviathan, reenactors, Lincoln Funeral Train tours, living history demonstrations, sutlers, nighttime lantern tours, and much more! Saturday night event, Lincoln Lost: Historical Vignettes Lantern Tour, includes hour long tours by lantern light led by guides in period dress, story telling by characters of the Lincoln assassination, rides every 15 minutes (from 7:15-9:00pm), and a nighttime cannon fire to conclude the evening. Daytime admission: Children-$14, Adult-$18. See website.
