Dr. Cole Cheek, professor of History and Anthropology, talks about Pushmataha, legendary chief of the Choctaw Nation in Mississippi, and the myths that have surrounded him for years. His social and political ideas were a combination of tradition and drastic change, which helped him to be a beacon of hope and foundation for Choctaw survival. The Native American Studies Center invites all to attend free monthly lectures with topics related to local or regional history. Participants are asked to bring their own lunch.
