The N.C. Transportation Museum & The Virginia Museum of Transportation are proud to host a round trip, full day excursion from Spencer, NC to Lynchburg, VA, powered by the N&W Class J #611. This is the third season of the #611 train rides following the locomotive's year-long renovation in the North Carolina Transportation Museum's Bob Julian Roundhouse. This afternoon trip will depart from the N. C. Transportation Museum at 2:00 pm. The Norfolk & Western Class J #611 will pull the train north from Spencer and through the communities of Linwood, Lexington, Thomasville, High Point, and Jamestown before arriving at Norfolk Southern's Pomona Yard in Greensboro. We'll pass through some of the state's most well-know furniture and textile producing towns and locally famous attractions, like Thomasville's historic downtown and High Point's furniture market.
