The Charlotte Chapter of the American Guild of Organists hosts the ATLANTA MASTER CHORALE under the artistic direction of Eric Nelson in concert. Their program is titled "Double Take" and will present music of Rutter, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Rachmaninoff, Esenvalds, Part, and exciting arrangements of traditional spirituals. General Admission tickets are $10 and are available through carolinatix.org Doors open at 6:30pm Atlanta Master Chorale shares the following about their program: "We’ve all seen them. People who look like a friend or family member. Same nose; same eyes; similar smile. A definite resemblance, but not a carbon copy. After looking a second time, the differences become clear—the hair is not the same; neither is the sound of the voice or the way the person stands. With more than six billion inhabitants on this spinning globe, double takes are waiting around every corner. Music is no different. We listen to the radio and are surprised to hear a song we love being sung by a different artist. The more popular the song, the more likely that someone will come along and remake it. In the world of choral music, great melodies and texts have been used and reused by composers over the span of centuries, often with startlingly different results. Join us as we explore pairs of these contrasting pieces. Some you may know, and others you’ve only begun to hear."
