Kings Mountain Historical Museum

Dr. Kevin L. Burke will share the true story of a bizarre and surprisingly comedic caper that took place in 1876. More than a decade after the death of one of America’s most beloved Presidents, a bumbling gang of Chicago counterfeiters attempted to steal Abraham Lincoln’s body and to ransom the government for its return. Learn how the Secret Service and a comedy of errors foiled this criminal plot. Dr. Burke is a Professor and Dean at Queens University of Charlotte and has served as a volunteer at the Abraham Lincoln Tomb and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois.
