Author Peter Golden will speak at 1:30 pm at Park Road Books on Jan. 23 followed by a book signing. He will speak on the historical background of his novel: the rescue of German Jewish professors from Hitler by African American Colleges and the beginning of the modern Civil Rights Movement. Wherever There is Light is the remarkable novel by this award-winning political historian and journalist whose career led him to interview such dignitaries as Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Bush, Secretaries of State Kissinger, Haig, Shultz, and Eagleburger; Israeli Prime Ministers Rabin, Peres, and Shamir; and Soviet President Gorbachev. In a story set in the years just before, during and after World War II, Wherever There is Light (Atria Books/Simon and Schuster, Nov. 2015) engages readers in a dramatic portrayal of an unlikely couple falling in love and struggling to maintain connection amid injustice and oppression.
