The legendary Red Clay Ramblers, formed in 1972 in Chapel Hill, sparked a revival of old-time mountain stringband music. Reviewers considered them to be the very best of the traditional revivalist bands. The band has toured and performed continuously and, today, the Tony Award-winning band’s repertoire reflects its old-time roots, but also includes bluegrass, country, rock, New Orleans jazz, gospel, and the American musical. The Ramblers carry the banner of stringband music far and wide, and with great joy and zest. Premier acoustic music station WNCW salutes The Red Clay Ramblers as “the house band of North Carolina.” http://redclayramblers.com Monthly second-Friday CFS Gatherings are family-friendly and free; donations appreciated. Refreshments, a song circle, jam sessions, songwriters’ circle, and an Appalachian dulcimer group follow the hour-long concert. Free parking. Accessible ground floor entry. This concert is presented in partnership with Our State Magazine and Charlotte Community Radio.
