LaCa Projects celebrates their third-year anniversary with Collective: Latin American Perspectives. Since opening in March 2013, LaCa has amassed a stellar roster of unparalleled Latin American artists. This group show will highlight nine artists currently represented by LaCa; Carlos Estévez (Cuba), Juan Dolhare (Argentina), Vicente Hernández (Cuba), Ricardo “Chino” Morales (Costa Rica), Alicia de la Campa (Cuba), Otto Apuy (Costa Rica), Cristina Toro (Puerto Rico), Juan Carlos Verdial (Cuba) and Leandro Manzo (Argentina). Studio artists Luis Ardila (Colombia) and Rosalia Torres-Weiner (Mexico) will also be highlighted in Collective. Each artist’s experiences abroad produce a range of aesthetics; these various viewpoints and influences allow notable distance from traditional Western imagery. The catalog of artists featured pay homage to their heritage and different ancestries through their meticulously detailed craftsmanship. The major impact from these culturally rich perspectives allows individuality and diversity to radiate through out their trade. Themes featured in Collective: Latin American Perspectives weave through philosophical interests, religion, enchanted childhoods, curiosity and a serene examination of the universe, space and time.
