The Other Side combines two of Cardozo's painting series. The first merges abstract and figurative techniques, using complex layers to produce natural scenes, which though reflect nature's transformative and reflexive qualities, lack the specificity of reference. The second is purely abstract, using muted lines, forms and colors to allude to the residue of human interaction. Hence, the convergence of dissimilar styles contributes to similarly universal themes, which offer tranquility and familiarity to viewers. Cardozo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he currently resides. He graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in 1990 and later traveled to France and Italy to expand the breadth of his artistic process and scholarship. His work has been featuredHis brilliance has been formalized in the collection of international awards and recognitions he has amassed; these include, but are not limited to the Bicentenary Painting Prize of 2011 by the Ministerio de Educación y Cultura in Uruguay and the 2012 First Prize at the 51st National Visual Arts Salon.
