How Charlotte Got Segregated with Dr. Tom Hanchett Community presentation open to all. at Avondale Presbyterian Church 2821 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209 2 DATES: Sunday, March 19 / 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (in the Family Life Center) Wednesday, March 22 / 6:30 - 7:30 PM (in the Fellowship Hall) Learn about the private and public decisions that have pushed people apart over time and explore how decisions today can help bring us together. The event is open to the community. Light refreshments provided. Speaker: Dr. Hanchett earned degrees in history and urban studies at Cornell, University of Chicago and UNC Chapel Hill. He is best known for his 16 years as Staff Historian with Levine Museum of the New South and for his book about Charlotte entitled “Sorting Out the New South City”. He also writes the “Food From Home” column in The Charlotte Observer, exploring Charlotte’s international cultures.
