Join us for a JAZZ ROOM Special Edition tribute to one of the legendary founders of smooth the jazz genre, Grover Washington Jr. played by renowned saxophonist Adrian Crutchfield. The JAZZ ROOM @ the Stage Door Theater is an intimate and casual escape to a place where classic and modern meets JAZZ.
Grover Washington, Jr., considered by many to be the founding father of smooth jazz, is a master of the jazz funk genre, working as a prominent songwriter and talented saxophonist. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Washington made some of the genre's most memorable hits including Mister Magic, Black Frost, and The Best is Yet to Come.
Adrian Crutchfield is known around the world for his neo-soul sound-creating music in a variety of genres such as jazz, R&B, pop, funk, soul, hip hop, and fusion. Adrian has performed with many of today’s brightest stars such as Prince & The New Power Generation, Bette Midler, Lionel Richie, R&B icon Anthony Hamilton, Fantasia Barrino, KC and JoJo, Adina Howard, Regina Belle, and with hip hop superstar Young Jeezy. In jazz, Adrian has been featured by names such as Kim Waters, Mike Philips, Alex Bugnon, Jeff Lorber, and Branford Marsalis; and with legendary groups such as Fourplay and The Gap Band featuring Charlie Wilson.
