This festival will encourage visitors to gain an appreciation for nature, to learn and understand their regional history, and to discover the many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors at Kings Mountain NMP and other public lands. Festival activities will include: 1) An 18th-century militia muster, complete with multiple living history groups, weapons demonstrations, camp demonstrations, and more 2) An area where visitors can learn colonial trades and make and take home colonial crafts 3) An outdoor skills area where visitors can learn survival skills, basic orienteering skills (how to read a map, how to read a compass), plant identification, the benefits of native plants, and gardening for healthy living 4) An interactive exhibit where visitors can learn all about fire: wildland fires, prescribed burns, fire prevention, and the wildland-urban interface 5) Concerts 6) Guided nature walks 7) Guided battlefield tours 8) Stargazing with the Carolina Skygazers to end the evening
