The Charlotte Civic Orchestra presents ‘One Thousand and One Arabian Nights’, featuring violin prodigy, Nathan Meltzer. Dr. Geoffrey Whitehead conducts Scheherazade, Op. 35 by Rimsky-Korsakov, which features Mr. Meltzer as concert master. Scheherazade is a symphonic suite based on the stories of ‘The Arabian Nights”, such as Sinbad and Aladdin. Mr. Meltzer will also perform Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op. 47. Much of the violin writing is purely virtuosic. This concerto is symphonic in scope, departing completely from the often lighter, "rhythmic" accompaniments of many other concertos. Sixteen-year-old Nathan Meltzer studies with Itzhak Perlman and Li Lin at Juilliard Pre-College, where he is a Starling Delay scholar. Nathan has performed in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Germany, Israel, and across the U.S. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.CharlotteCivicOrchestra.org
Adults $15, Seniors and Students $12, Families $40.
