We have been trained to believe that the word organic means safe. Gardening products identified as organic are generally considered to be much healthier for our environment and ourselves than products that aren't considered organic. But is that the truth? In this talk we will examine the safety and efficacy of various organic gardening products and practices for a multitude of garden problems including soil fertility, weed control, and disease. Some of the organic remedies stand tall, and some fall flat. Jeff Gillman, Director of the Botanical Gardens at UNC Charlotte, will be joining us as our guest speaker. Jeff has written five books on gardening and the environment and is a contributing editor for Fine Gardening magazine.
