Washington's 1791 Southern Tour Presentation and Book Signing by Warren L. Bingham In the spring of 1791, President Washington spent nearly three and a half months traveling from Philadelphia to Georgia and back as he focused on a visit to Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia. The Southern Tour was the last of three big trips in just over two years during his first term as President that took George Washington to all 13 states. Speaker, writer, historian, and broadcaster Warren L. Bingham will speak about this fascinating chapter in American History during which our nation’s first President promoted the new constitution and brought the face of the new federal government to the people.
