‘Tis the Season to Propose

By Lauren McAlexander

Cupid’s got nothing on Santa! According to theknot.com, more than one in four proposals takes place during the holiday season, making it the perfect time to drop to one knee. Here are some of the most romantic places in Charlotte to propose or enjoy a holiday date night.

1. AT ROMARE BEARDEN PARK

Charlotte boasts plenty of parks, but if you are looking for one with a beautiful city backdrop, Romare Bearden Park is it. Go to the center of the park, where a luminous waterfall and skyline provide a picturesque backdrop.

2. ON A ROOFTOP

If breathtaking views are your thing, head over to sky-high culinary hub Fahrenheit in Center City. Located atop the Hyatt Place Charlotte Downtown, the restaurant’s famed patio, which is adorned with linear fire pits and cozy chairs, offers a stunning glimpose of the entire skyline.

3. IN A HELICOPTER

It’s no secret that Charlotte has a beautiful skyline, but have you ever seen it from above? With Heliventures Helicopters, you can experience the city in a completely different way. And what better way to feel like you’re on cloud nine?

4. AT BANK OF AMERICA STADIUM

If you and your significant other bond over cheering for your favorite sports team, consider proposing at Bank of America Stadium. With the new renovations at the stadium, your proposal message could even be featured on the 360-degree ribbon board.

5. TO THE TUNE OF LIVE MUSIC

There are plenty of concerts this holiday season at places like Spectrum Center, Ovens Auditorium, The Fillmore Charlotte at AvidXchange Music Factory, The Evening Muse and more. Ask the big question during one of your favorite songs or during the band’s most romantic ballad.

6. AT FREEDOM PARK

If you are looking for a park that offers a quiet romantic setting, check out Freedom Park in Dilworth. A sunset glistening over the 7-acre lake is picture-perfect.

7. AT A BED-AND-BREAKFAST

If you prefer a romantic getaway, check in at The VanLandingham Estate or The Duke Mansion. Both are luxurious inns where you can sleep-in and get away from the real world without leaving the city you love.

8. UNDER THE HOLIDAY LIGHTS

Take a stroll through the light display at Christmas Town USA in McAdenville or explore a winter wonderland at Holidays at the Garden at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

9. ON ICE SKATES

Make a grand gesture at Holiday on Ice on the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza. Rent your skates and take a few laps around the ice skating rink before heading to the center of the rink to propose for all to see.

10. IN A HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE

Enjoy Charlotte’s stunning beauty aboard Charlotte Center City Carriage Tours while cuddling under a blanket as you explore the streets of Uptown.

11. IN FRONT OF A BIG RED ORNAMENT

Take a stroll through Uptown before stopping for a photo opp in front of the large red ornament in front of the Mint Museum Uptown. As the photographer counts to three, drop to one knee and capture the special moment.

12. AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT

If you crave an exciting night filled with music, arts and culture, check out Charlotte’s New Year’s Eve celebration Romare Bearden Park. As the Queen City counts down to midnight, get down on one knee and pop the question. What better way to ring in a new year than with a beautiful ring on the hand of the one you love?
