(Yields 1 appetizer)

2 teaspoons barbecue seasoning

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

15 shrimp, peeled and deveined or unpeeled (New Orleans-style)

½ cup chicken stock or vegetable stock

½ cup beer (any lighter beer will work, but Cajun Queen prefers Milwaukee’s Best)

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Handful scallions, diced

2 tablespoons butter, not melted

1 tablespoon garlic, chopped

  • Add vegetable oil to a hot nonstick sauté pan.
  • Once oil is hot, add barbecue seasoning, Worcestershire, garlic and shrimp.
  • Sauté shrimp about 3 minutes, or until almost completely cooked.
  • Add chicken/vegetable stock, beer, butter and scallions—in that order.
  • Allow stock and beer to deglaze in pan.
  • Allow butter to melt in broth. When butter is melted, shrimp should be fully cooked.
  • Enjoy while shrimp is still hot.

*The entire preparation process takes about 5 minutes
