(Yields 1 cocktail) 

Bloody Mary Mix

3 cups tomato juice

1 ½ ounces lemon juice, freshly squeezed (from about 1 medium lemon)

1 ½ ounces lime juice, freshly squeezed (from about 2 medium limes)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 teaspoons fresh horseradish, peeled and finely grated

1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt

1 teaspoon hot sauce (Tabasco works easily)

1 teaspoon celery salt

¾ teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground

Beer

9 ounces Birdsong Brewing Co. Jalapeño Pale Ale, chilled

Garnish

Bacon strips (optional)

Jalapeños, freshly cut

Preparation

Bloody Mary Mix

  • Place all ingredients in nonreactive 1-quart container.
  • Whisk ingredients until well combined.
  • Cover mixture and refrigerate until flavors meld and mix is chilled (at least two hours but preferably overnight).
  • Use mix within 24 hours.

Assembly

  • Pour beer and 3 ounces bloody mary mix into 12-ounce glass.
  • Stir mixture and garnish as desired with bacon and fresh-cut jalapeños.
