North Carolina native Dana Rader founded the award-winning Dana Rader Golf School in South Charlotte in 1987, and it’s been next to The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge since 1997. The school features a team of certified LPGA and PGA instructors, varied programs (including popular group and teambuilding options), personalized instruction, custom club fitting and repair, and a state-of-the-art teaching and practice facility including an indoor facility with covered all-weather hitting bays.
Dana Rader was voted third by her peers on Golf Digest’s 2010 list of “50 Best Women Teachers in America” and the Dana Rader Golf School was named “Top 25 Golf Schools in America” by Golf Magazine.
Dana Rader Golf School is one of the 57 inaugural locations to become a partner in The Golf Channel Academy. Rader was nominated as a lead coach by The Golf Channel Academy, the first in the Carolinas to receive this designation. Dana Rader Golf School also offers customizable events and activities for a special golf experience. Beginner programs like New2Golf and Get Golf Ready are easy to learn and fun to play golf experiences that entertain while effectively teaching the game of golf to people of all ages and ability levels. For a lesson more advanced than miniature golf but not quite regulation golf, these programs are great options for adults and juniors. The programs build on strong fundamentals of putting, chipping, pitching and full swing to develop playing ability quickly and effectively.
Dana Rader Golf School also offers golf programs that include short game skills challenges, contests or entertaining team competitions, and full swing instruction with video analysis. And located right next door, students can also use the 4.5- star Golf Club at Ballantyne for on-course training. Other area options for improving your golf game include Leatherman Golf Learning Center, which offers a double decker driving range, putting and chipping greens, sand trap and personal instruction, as well as Scott Fossum Golf School, where you can receive high-quality golf instruction from PGA Master Professional Scott Fossum at the Emerald Lake Golf Club. Of course, many other Charlotte area golf courses have professional instructors ready and waiting at the driving range or first tee.
