Welcome to Rock Hill
In 1852, the gateway to South Carolina opened and became a portal to a new world of Southern charm. Just 45 minutes south of Charlotte, Rock Hill is home to an array of attractions. With Olympicgrade sporting events, eye-opening excursions and beautifully landscaped parks, Rock Hill’s eclectic culture makes it great for family fun, adventure or a leisurely getaway.
What to do
Football City, USA is known for another sporting favorite: BMX racing. As the only Olympic-caliber training facility on the East Coast, Novant Health BMX Supercross Track is perfect for high-energy fun. Join the crowd at the weekly Friday night races, or feed your need for speed in one of the instructional programs, fit for riders of all ages and skill levels.
For a relaxing day, head to Fountain Park in the heart of Rock Hill — with spacious grass areas and an interactive water fountain, it’s a great place for a picnic and family-friendly entertainment. If aerial exploration sounds like your idea of a good time, then a Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour is three hours of airborne bliss. Spend a day on the Full Canopy Tour or an evening on a Night Zip. These scenic adventures are family friendly and suitable for first-timers or experienced thrill seekers. When you’re ready to come down from your skyscraping excursion, hit the road for a quick trip to York, South Carolina, just 30 minutes from Rock Hill. There you will find Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill — home of everything apples. Enjoy apple picking, hard cider tastings, homemade doughnuts, live music and other seasonal events throughout the year.
Where to eat
Great times pair well with great food and Rock Hill has plenty of both. Stop by Millstone Pizza and Taphouse for delicious hearth-baked pizzas and over 40 beers on tap. If you’re looking for more nostalgic dishes, Culina is where to find them. The menu features classic comfort food, all made from scratch with a modern twist. And no trip to Rock Hill is complete without breakfast at The Yolk. As if the name doesn’t entice you enough, the entire concept is around having a love affair with breakfast, because we all know the best way to our hearts is through our stomachs.
Where to stay
After a full day in the city that’s always on, you’ll want to get off your feet. For some R&R, a charming B&B is the way to go. Saunter over to East Main Guest House Bed and Breakfast Inn for home-style comfort, conveniently located within walking distance of Fountain Park. Or nestled near historic Winthrop University, Book and Spindle is a beautiful Georgianstyle home offering unique themes in each room and easy access to Rock Hill’s best art and entertainment attractions.
