Be A Coffee Connoisseur For The Day

Whether you need to kick-start your morning meeting or want a leisurely catch-up session with a friend, Charlotte’s got plenty of caffeine infused options that are perfect for any occasion.

Chill out

Charlotte-based brands like Pure Intentions Coffee and Hex Coffee will make you ashamed you ever thought about dumping ice cubes into your K-Cup mixture and calling it a day. Their cold brews are perfect for when you need an icy pick-me-up.

Ditch the stale donuts

If you associate coffee shops with a sad pastry case, it’s time to shift your perspective. One bite of a salted caramel brownie from Amelie’s will make you realize just what you’ve been missing.

If nothing but those fried rolls of dough will do, skip the national chains and stop by Duck DonutsJoe's Doughs or Suarez Bakery for gourmet, artisanal varieties like Maple Bacon, Blueberry Earl Grey and Pumpkin Pie to accompany your cup of Joe.

People watch as you sip

Spots like Not Just Coffee (with locations at 7th Street Public Market and Atherton Mill), Smelly Cat Coffeehouse and Coco and the Director provide a great backdrop as you enjoy your brew. Pretty lights. Exposed brick. Free Wifi. You’ll feel inspired. Now about that screenplay you’ve been meaning to write…

Three to see:

  1. Head out for some shopping at Ballantyne Village, then refuel at Rush Espresso. Not only can you get a much-needed caffeine boost, Rush’s paninis and sandwiches are delicious too.
  2. Browse local artwork or pick up a handmade mug at the South Park coffee shop Mugs. The shop focuses on using ingredients and beans from North Carolina vendors, so savor your brew knowing you’re supporting local merchants.
  3. Perfectly brewed coffee, delectable pastries and a fun atmosphere make Central Coffee a favorite in Charlotte. Not quite sure what you’re in the mood for? The staff members are always glad to make a suggestion.
