Be An Outdoor Explorer For The Day

Charlotte’s proximity to lakes, mountains, preserves and man-made adventure spots make it the ideal destination to launch an outdoor adventure.

I wat to ride my bicycle.

To see Charlotte at your own pace and get a great workout, rent one of Charlotte B-cycle’s 200 blue bikes available at 24 stations around town. Just grab a helmet and go. Return it to any station you choose.

Soaring high.

Catch a glimpse of exotic birds of prey at the 57-acre Carolina Raptor Center. Located in the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve and open year-round, more than 25 species of raptors are on display at this living museum and avian medical facility.

Adventure awaits.

Raft the rapids, tackle the miles of mountain biking and running trails or zip line the 1,100-foot cable running over the rapids at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, home to the world’s largest man-made recirculating river. A daylong All Sport Pass affords you access to more than 20 different activities – wet and dry.

Three to See:

  1. Set yourself free in Freedom Park’s 98 acres of paved trails, playgrounds, sports fields and beautiful gardens.
  2. Spend the day at Lake Norman getting the hang of stand-up paddleboarding with My Aloha Paddleboard and Surf or along the Catawba River at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
  3. Try the 3-mile Booty Loop in Myers Park, a scenic route that goes by Queens University and beautiful homes along Queens Road West and Selwyn Avenue.
