Charlotte Restaurant Week Expands Days, Features Restaurants Around Metro Area

06/19/2009

July 10-19 is “Queen’s Feast: Summer 2009”

The immensely popular dining event Charlotte Restaurant Week will expand to ten days for its third outing. “Queen’s Feast: Summer 2009” will run Friday, July 10, through Sunday, July 19, encompassing two full weekends. The semi-annual event boasts a new high of 71 participating restaurants for this summer's run. The updated event website will go live Friday, June 19, listing participating restaurants and their special Queen's Feast menus, along with information on transportation and accommodations offerings.

Charlotte Restaurant Week is a metro-area promotion during a typically slow time in which numerous upscale restaurants offer a prix fixe, three-course dinner for $30 per person (not including tax and gratuity), a savings over what such a meal would typically cost. Participating restaurants this summer can be found in the Lake Norman/North Mecklenburg area; Fort Mill, SC; and Belmont, NC, in addition to many areas of Charlotte [listing follows].

Partners in this year’s promotion are Visit Charlotte / Charlotte'sGotALot.com; The Greater Charlotte Hospitality & Tourism Alliance; Charlotte Center City Partners / FindYourCenter.com; Visit Lake Norman; Axis Marketing Group; U.S. Foodservice; Acacia Vineyards; Chalone Vineyards; Rex Goliath Wines; Sysco; Micros; WBT-AM; 107.9 The Link FM; Charlotte Magazine; Time Warner Cable; Rose Chauffeured Transportation; and OpenTable.com. Hensley Fontana Public Relations & Marketing handles turnkey development, execution and promotion of the event.

“We felt that expanding Queen's Feast over two weekends would give more diners a chance to participate during the busy summer travel season,” said Bruce Hensley, president of the PR firm that owns Charlotte Restaurant Week. “We look forward to presenting metro Charlotte with another 'gastronomic stimulus package' to enjoy this summer."

In addition to many of the popular choices from previous events, such as Sonoma Modern American, M5, LaVecchia's, Copper, Blue, Cajun Queen, Ruth's Chris, Carpe Diem, and Noble’s, this summer's Queen's Feast will see new participants such as Luce; Sole Spanish Grille; Basil Thai; Firenze; Morton’s; Passion8 Bistro in Fort Mill; T1 Tapas and Maddi's Southern Bistro at Birkdale; Old Stone Steakhouse in Belmont; and many others.

This summer, Charlotte Restaurant Week is also partnering with three hotels that will offer discounted rates targeting diners at nearby participating CRW restaurants. Special rates, packages, and reservation information for the Westin and the Doubletree Gateway Village in Center City and the Doubletree Suites at SouthPark can be found at an "Accommodations" link on www.CharlotteRestaurantWeek.com.

"We hope some folks will expand their dining experience and spend a night or two, or more, in Center City or SouthPark enjoying all that Charlotte has to offer," said Hensley. "That could be anyone from locals wanting to make their night out a really special occasion, to travelers from around the region, and even 'staycationers' who opt for a mini-vacation in their own city this summer.

“All information regarding participating restaurants and their menus, as well as transportation and accommodations options, for the Summer 2009 Queen’s Feast will appear on www.CharlotteRestaurantWeek.com beginning June 19,” concluded Hensley.

Reservations are strongly recommended.
