Directions to Charlotte

Directions to Charlotte

Our location in the sunny, moderate Central region of the Tar Heel state gives us unlimited accessibility. Interstates 77 and 85, which intersect in Charlotte, link the city with the Great Lakes region, New England, and Florida. Interstate 40, running coast-to-coast across the United States, is only an hour north of Charlotte. A one and a half-hour journey to the west takes you to the Blue Ridge Mountains; a three-hour trip to the east, to Atlantic beaches.

From the North

You can take Interstates 77 or 85 from the north into Charlotte. Upon entering the Charlotte area, I-77 will be an exit from I-85 that will take you directly into Charlotte's center city. I-85, if continued, will take you to the west side of Charlotte.

From the South

Interstate 77 is your best road to take directly into Charlotte from the Columbia, SC side of the Charlotte region. Upon entering the Charlotte area, you will have a choice of taking the new I-485 "loop" to the east, which would connect you to some of Charlotte's suburban neighbors such as Pineville and Matthews. At this time, it will take you as far as the University area in Charlotte. (I-485 to the west is incomplete at this time). Or...continue on I-77 to go directly into Charlotte's center city area. There will be plenty of exit options along the way to access different areas of Charlotte.

From the Southwest

If coming from the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC area, Interstate 85 to the north is your best road to take. It will bring you into Charlotte and give you choices of exiting onto Interstate 77 or other main Charlotte roads.

From the East

Interstate 74, or Independence Boulevard, is the main highway into Charlotte from the east. Once entering the Charlotte area, Independence Blvd. will take you right into the Center City or offer you options for exiting into many different areas of the Charlotte.

From the West (i.e., Shelby, NC)

Interstate 74, also named Wilkinson Boulevard, is the main highway into Charlotte from the west.
