Multi-Cultural Event Planning

With its diverse museums, cultural festivals and ethnic restaurants, Charlotte is perfect for a multi-cultural event.

Charlotte is not only a multi-cultural city, but one that embraces and celebrates its many heritages and traditions. Renowned museums devoted to exploring our differences and similarities, countless internationally inspired restaurants and dozens of cultural festivals make Charlotte the ideal setting for any multi-cultural event.

Museums & City Tours

The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture in Uptown Charlotte houses a rich collection of visual art and hosts cultural performances, but it’s also an excellent venue for events. The ultra-modern, architecturally stunning building offers three levels of event space accommodating up to 1,000 people. The Center offers discounts for nonprofit organizations.

Levine Museum of the New South in Center City explores the post-Civil War South through dynamic interactive exhibits. It also offers unique programs that go beyond the museum walls, such as the BBQ Bus Tour, which gives participants a taste of many cultures’ take on BBQ. The museum historian can even create a talk customized for your group’s interests.

Other museums regularly celebrate diversity as well. An exhibit focusing on Charlotte-born African-American artist Romare Bearden debuted at The Mint Museum Uptown and is now traveling to other museums around the country.

Another way to immerse your group in Charlotte’s heritage is to schedule a tour through Charlotte NC Tours. Among their many offerings is an African-American history tour. For more museums and tours, see the attractions listings.

Diverse Restaurants

Perhaps the best way to experience new cultures is through your taste buds. Charlotte boasts a tremendous diversity in dining – some notable group-friendly restaurants include Vida Mexican Kitchen y Cantina, Enso Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar and Osso Restaurant & Lounge. For soul food and classic southern favorites, don’t miss Mert’s Heart and Soul in the theater district. For more restaurant options, see the dining listings.

Cultural Festivals

Charlotte celebrates its rich cultural mix with festivals all year long. The MLK Holiday Parade and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade draw crowds, as do the Asian, Caribbean and Middle East festivals, Cinco de Mayo celebrations and many more.  For more Charlotte cultural events, see the events calendar.
