For those craving caffeine, hit up Smelly Cat Coffee or The Daily Press for local, artisanal coffees with flavors as unique as the neighborhood. Or take a tour at Boquete Mountain Coffee, a full-service specialty coffee roastery thatroasts coffee locally using organic and sustainable practices. For the craft beer lovers out there, NoDa is overflowing with brews for you to choose from. Stop by for a pint at Heist Brewery, NoDa Brewing Company, Birdsong Brewing Co. or the soon-to-open Free Range Brewing for more local flavor.
WHERE TO PLAY
Artists and shops keep their doors open the first and third Fridays for a gallery crawl. Cozy Evening Muse hosts bands most nights of the week while Neighborhood Theatre is a larger venue hosting special events and touring bands. Catch a poetry reading, comedy show or local theaterperformance at UpStage NoDa or slip into Chop Shop NoDa for local music. Get a sneak peek into life in antebellum Charlotte at Historic Rosedale Plantation, a 200 year-old home with exquisitely landscaped grounds. Walk through the majestic, century-old trees, tour the home or attend one of the many free community events. Or, take your furry friend to Charlotte’s original dog-friendly, off-leash bar, The Dog Bar. While the pups play in a safe fenced outdoor area or climate controlled indoor area, you can relax and grab a drink with friends.
