The Soups of Seinfeld Come To Mecklenburg County Donates $1,500 To Second Harvest Food Bank

Spartanburg, South Carolina residents John and Valerie Kirby are opening the latest Original SoupMan shop on Tuesday, July 24, at 12:00 p. m.,, at 214 Tryon Street Suite 230, in The Hearst Tower, in Charlotte North Carolina. The Original SoupMan features the soups of Al Yeganeh, who inspired the “Soup Episode” on Seinfeld.

Since 1984, New Yorkers and tourist alike have waited in line at Yeganeh’s “Soup Kitchen International" in all kinds of weather just for taste of his much-heralded Lobster Bisque and Jambalaya. In 2004, Yeganeh closed the shop to prepare for the launch of his international franchise.

The Kirby’s Original SoupMan showcases Yeganeh’s 50 varieties of soup as the “centerpiece of the meal”, each presented with a piece of fresh, crusty baguette, fresh fruit and a piece of imported chocolate — just like Al Yeganeh served it at his original shop. As Yeganeh explains it, this is simply “the way to eat”.

Alongside Yeganeh’s 50 varieties of soup, there will also be an extensive line of gourmet salads and sandwiches. The menu ranges in price from $4.95-$8.95 for a cup of soup, and $6.95-$8.95 for a bowl.

During The Kirby’s grand opening ceremony on Tuesday July 24, The Original SoupMan will also donate $1,500 on behalf of Yeganeh’s charity, “Al’s Feed the Hungry Foundation”, to “ Second Harvest Food Bank”. Al’s Feed the Hungry Foundation donates funds to local hunger charities every time a new Original SoupMan location opens. The charity is headed up by Baseball Hall of Fame legend, Reggie Jackson.
