The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art screens the documentary "Unfinished Spaces" (86 minutes, trailer) August 20 during the museum's Modernism + Film program.

In Unfinished Spaces, filmmakers Alysa Nahmias and Benjamin Murray set out to tell the nearly forgotten stories of the architects who designed Cuba's National Art Schools, and of the revolutionary vision that guided Fidel Castro to commission the project. Intimate interviews with the architects, interwoven with video footage documenting Castro's commitment to fostering a climate of artistic freedom work to offer a complex narrative about the simultaneous optimism and tragedy of the Cuban Revolution.
