Requiem for Mother Emmanuel

Mint Museum Randolph
2730 Randolph Road Charlotte, NC 28207
Phone: 704-337-2000

Early this summer, representatives of The Johnson Collection, an important collection of Southern art in Spartanburg, SC asked if the Mint would be interested in serving as a venue for a small but powerful exhibition of nine paintings by South Carolina artist Dr. Leo Twiggs that deal with the tragic murders of nine African Americans at Charleston's Mother Emmanuel Church in 2015. These moving paintings provides an important opportunity to extend the museum's commitment to utilizing art of the highest caliber to further critical dialogues within our community about issues pertaining to race, social justice, redemption, and reconciliation.

The Mint is proud to announce that Requiem for Mother Emanuel will be installed in the Jones gallery at Mint Museum Randolph from November 23 – February 19. We hope to see you there!
