Follow the history of African Americans from the Revolutionary War through the present with an expedition through Charlotte that highlights neighborhoods, landmarks and historic sites. From Charlotte’s oldest surviving black area called Biddleville to institutions such as Johnson C. Smith University, one of the first African-American institutions established after the Civil War in 1867, the tour illustrates the challenges and triumphs of African Americans in the South using powerful stories to provide historical perspective.
