Visit Charlotte is proud to announce its new Director of Business Development and Tourism, Brandy Richard. Richard will transition from her role as Marketing Manager within the organization to the new position, bringing a wealth of established Visit Charlotte partner relationships, marketing and business development savvy. Her connections with government, cultural, and civic organizations from across the region will assist her and industry organizations in generating tourism-related business, creating programs and products geared towards the Charlotte visitor, maximizing leisure group tourism efforts, and much more.
Visit Charlotte partners with over 500 hotels, restaurants, nightlife destinations, attractions, shopping venues, and services and Richard will work closely with all, collaborating on ways to grow the destination and their business through tourism outreach. In addition she will oversee group tour efforts, an essential industry where a one-day visit made by a motorcoach group can leave more than $4,500 in a destination’s economy and an overnight visit more than $11,000.
“Brandy has been an invaluable asset to Visit Charlotte during her tenure here by seeking out new and creative ways to expand Charlotte’s branding strategies and solidifying valuable partner relationships. We’re excited to watch her thrive in her new role and continue to grow the destination as we embark on an eventful decade. Her passion for Charlotte and the entire region is contagious,” says Visit Charlotte Executive Director Mike Butts.
Formerly the Marketing Manager for the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, Richard developed strategic plans for dynamic media and marketing programs that showcased the region’s best assets. Creative duties spanned negotiating print and online advertising buys to creating engaging social media campaigns to managing successful sweepstakes and promotions – all of which produced leads and attracted visitors to Charlotte. Before joining Visit Charlotte two years ago, Richard served as promotions manager with worldwide concert promoter Live Nation, where she worked to publicize over 250 live events in North and South Carolina.
A Charlotte resident for more than nine years, Richard serves on the Center City Partners 2020 Vision Plan Steering Committee, the Charlotte Gen Y Council, and was a founding member of the Historic South End Neighborhood Association, serving as secretary from 2007 - 2008. Richard now lives in NoDa and is an active volunteer with several Charlotte charities including March of Dimes, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Young Leaders of the United Way and Hands on Charlotte.
