The inaugural Black College Invitational Championship (BCIC) is bringing high-energy Historically Black College and University (HBCU) basketball to Charlotte from March 20-22, 2025, at Bojangles Coliseum. This historic tournament will feature eight elite men’s and women’s teams from CIAA and SIAC Division II schools.
But the BCIC isn’t just about basketball – it’s a full week of events that celebrate culture, education and community. Whether you're a die-hard hoops fan, an HBCU alum, a student looking to explore your next step or just planning your weekend in the Queen City, here’s your guide for making the most of your BCIC experience.
BCIC Education Days
Thursday and Friday, March 20-21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This two-day event, hosted at Bojangles Entertainment Complex, aims to equip high school and community college students with the knowledge and resources necessary for future success. Students can explore higher education opportunities, engage with HBCU representatives and interact with student-athletes from all four conferences. With interactive exhibits and networking opportunities, Education Days serve as a valuable platform for students planning their next steps. Student participants who attend are also invited to enjoy the games after the educational portion.
BCIC Greek Night Celebration
Friday, March 21 at 6 p.m.
Calling all members of the Divine Nine. Show up and represent your school at Greek Night Celebration.
BCIC Yard Fest
Saturday, March 22 from 8 a.m.-noon
The BCIC Yard Fest takes place outside of Bojangles Coliseum and offers up over 40 unique vendors, sponsor giveaways and an atmosphere rich in HBCU culture. Engage with the community and experience the excitement leading up to the championship weekend.
The Main Event: BCIC Basketball Tournament
At the core of the BCIC experience is the basketball tournament, featuring athletes from two HBCU conferences. Here’s the competition schedule for the BCIC tournament:

CIAA vs. SIAC | Session 1: Noon and 2 p.m.

Friday, March 21
