It’s been a rainy month, Charlotte, but spring is in the air, and new business announcements are in full force. We’re hopeful for a strong 2021 as we continue to celebrate grand openings and support local.

Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop
Area: Huntersville, NC
Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday, noon-5 p.m.; Closed Monday.
Get a taste of hand-made Southern pies at this new bakery in Birkdale Village. The franchised shop is owned by sisters Gabby Sillyman and Savannah Lape who discovered the beauty of these pies in Tennessee. Customers can browse through signature flavors (plus a rotating seasonal pie) and opt for four-inch or nine-inch pies.
Dilworth Tasting Room
Neighborhood: SouthPark
Hours: Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday, 3-10 p.m.; Sunday, 3-9 p.m.
This crowd favorite in Dilworth is now open in SouthPark in the space formerly occupied by Corkbuzz. Enjoy cheese and charcuterie boards, craft cocktails and a food menu of small plates and entrees for lunch or dinner. We recommend starting with the meats and cheeses then moving on to crispy pork belly and grilled octopus.
Inizio Pizza
Area: Huntersville, NC
Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
The beloved Neapolitan pizza concept in Dilworth and Ballantyne is now open in Birkdale Village. Inizio’s third restaurant is home to another pair of gorgeous wood-fired ovens that cook your pizza in 90 seconds. Whether you go with the favorites Margherita or Pistacchio or pick the seasonal pie, you won’t be disappointed.

The “multicultural literary lounge” and hookah bar is open in the old People’s Market space. The food menu includes Cajun, southern and New York influences with dishes like red beans and rice, waffles, Buffalo wings and Philly cheesesteaks. And if you aren’t feeling the hookah, consider browsing through the 4,000 books for something great to read.
The Exchange at 36th
Neighborhood: NoDa
Hours: 9 a.m.-10 p.m. daily
Kevin Samuel of Bistro La Bon is now showing off at the new market in NoDa near the Lynx Blue Line Station. The grocery offers a variety of local product (including Pure Intentions Coffee and baked goods from Wentworth & Fenn) plus beer, wine and mimosas. Keep an eye out for news on the restaurant he plans to open next door before the end of the year.
The Vintage Whiskey & Cigar Bar
Neighborhood: South End
Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily
Sit back and relax at this new members-only whiskey and cigar lounge featuring a stocked bar and over 1,000 types of cigars. Membership options vary and include perks such as 10% off cigars and guest passes. When the weather warms up, expect the garage door to be open for easy access to their roomy patio.

I Heart Rail Trail: Lights

Experience these festive lights displays along the Rail Trail from Carson Blvd. down to Atherton Mill. Seven Carolina artists were chosen to bring a little glow to South End, but act fast – they’ll only be live through March 7. For full descriptions of all installments, click here.

Just inside Lenny Boy Brewing you’ll find Charlotte’s newest plant shop. Grab a kombucha and browse the plants and ceramic planters and feel good about it, too: five percent of monthly new profits are donated to a local non-profit. Go on and add to that ever-growing plant collection you started during quarantine.
