Alchemy at C3Lab
Having dinner at an art gallery was definitely a really cool experience. Having come in from out of town and being vegan, I loved the fact that it is vegetable forward yet still has all of the meat options so there is something for everyone. Everything was absolutely incredible. From the atmosphere to the amazing appetizers, entrees and the incredible dessert. I love that they have a mocktails menu recognizing that not everyone drinks alcohol. The chef Ken specifically came to our table to chat. It was so good, my friend who lives here switched her valentines weekend dinner reservation to Alchemy for next weekend. I will be coming back when I come to Charlotte again. Hands down one of the best overall dinner experiences Ive ever had.
What a wonderful experience, from the moment we arrived, until the moment we left! We were welcomed (and remembered) as we arrived, and seated even before our reservation time. The menu is available via QR, which I love, and everyone can have a copy on their phone, zoom in if they want, etc.. We had beyond excellent service, and the food was so so good; we are still talking about that elote and that lions mane pot pie!! Oh my word! They have such a nice variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes, but also had a filet for our meat-eating friend, and he said it was amazing, and the risotto was so buttery smooth. The drinks were fantastic, and my husband and our friend highly recommend the black cherry old fashioned. We will most definitely be back soon, and have added it our places to take family and friends for celebrations! So Good, All the gold stars, A++
Some of the reviews are a bit unfair. The service is a bit casual, but all the staff are nice. This place is well worth the visit. The art gallery feel inside is great and the food great. Their pancakes are two inches thick of fluffy goodness. That is a reason to go there alone. But they run out fast of the pancakes, so might want to order them before you get there. 6 of us went, 6 of us would go again.
As a non-vegan, I would rate this place a 3 probably but we chose it for my vegan friend to enjoy a good meal out and Ill give it an extra star because of that. There were tons of vegan options and I enjoyed all of them. The vegan cheeses on the charcuterie were fantastic! Vegan cheese can be a struggle so we were happy to see that. We got a variety of small plates and all were good, not over the top amazing but good. We tried all the desserts - vegan chocolate was a win, panna cotta not so much. The cocktails were all on point. The art gallery next to us was great. Put in your order and go check it out while you wait.
Five of us went there for brunch on a Sun. We placed reservations online but we had the dining room all to ourselves. It was a beautiful day so a few guests were outside on the patio. Overall, everything was great! Our server, whose name I wish I remember, was wonderful - personable, professional, helpful. He asked if anyone had any allergies or sensitivities so he could let us know about ingredients to stay away from. Food was fantastic. Grandkids had lion's mane waffles and Japanese pancakes. Both loved it. The adults had portobello hash, short rib hash and steak and eggs. Portions are huge. The hash was delicious but so filling. I brought half of it home. My grandson enjoyed his waffles so much he also ordered a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich as well. The arugula salad that came with that, which I ate, was delicious. Dressed perfectly, just the right amount of flavor, I could've made a meal out of it. We also had a couple of mimosas and a Bloody Mary. Atmosphere was quiet during our visit. Decor is modern with good lighting, much of it natural. There's a small art gallery with a rotating exhibit right at the entrance. We enjoyed looking at that before and after our meal. Overall, I'm glad we came here for brunch, It was great, food was delicious and cooked well, and service was outstanding so I'm really looking forward to returning for dinner sometime.
