Nova's Bakery & Coffee Shop
LOVE Novas bakery. My all time favorites are the spinach and feta scone and the chocolate croissant. They are so delicious! They even have a booth at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market on Saturdays. You have to go early because they sell out of a lot of items. The only thing I wish they would do is bring back their bear claws they were huge and amazing!
Good coffee, great pastries, many bread options! This is a quaint bakery located in the heart of Plaza Midwood right off of Central Avenue. This is a true bakery that includes items like fresh coffee, multiple fresh baked patries, donuts and treats, as well as an eclectic array of fresh bread loaves. The prices are reasonable, though don't expect the lowest prices given quality and variety comes with a slightly higher price. If you are in town and looking for a good bakery, this is definitely a location you'll want to visit!
I didnt order any baked goods because there is misinformation about this place having vegan options. I blame the internet for that, not the establishment. But my wife and I did have an almond latte. Not sure where the customers of the four star reviews this place gets normally get their coffee from but we both found the beans stale and coffee disgusting. On top of that, it was way too hot. This is because the barista burned the milk which also made it too bitter. In fact, I took two sips and dumped my to-go coffee out a block away cause I couldnt finish it. It was that awful. My wife did the same. Im not from Charlotte but Ive been staying in Plaza Midwood all weekend long. Im trying to take in everything the area offers including local shops and businesses. Im sorry to say this place was a disappointment. You guys have plenty of exceptionally good coffee shops in your neighborhood and I think some of you who praise this place, at least for its coffee, need to get out more. As far as the environment goes, it didnt feel clean but worst of all I didnt feel welcoming and warm. The place is in a prime location so I would think that the owners would spend more money on sprucing the place up. In fairness I should have expected the coffee to be less than fair because when I arrived, on a Monday morning, there was only two other people in the establishment. After I threw my coffee out I went down the street to another coffee shop on Commonwealth and there were easily 15 to 20 people inside. Clearly this place is struggling for reasons and I hope ownership takes constructive criticism to heart. As far as the reviews about cockroaches go, I didnt see anything but upon leaving there was an exterminator entering the shop. Certainly not the best look for any business. Like I said the places and feel very sterile so Im not shocked if they truly do have an issue. I doubt I would ever try this place again and maybe they were just having a bad day but I am totally not impressed one bit. PS: I also find businesses that dont allow you to tip with your credit card a bit sketchy. Its like they are trying to hide certain money. If a business is successful figuring out a way to work around $1 tips from customers isnt a top priority. As a business owner, I believe I can say this with all honesty.
I like coming here on the weekend for a mocha or dirty chai lattes - delicious! The breads they have are very good, specially the zucchini bread and apple cinnamon. The desserts look really good but I haven't had any yet, was slightly disappointed with the muffins. The service is a little slow but prices are good.
Been here about three times now. Seen cockroaches crawling on the open bread in baskets..not appetizing. Employees couldnt care less. Arent really baristas so cant call them that.. Once gave me coffee out of a pot as americano.. Not the same price item. Other time couldnt drink my cappuchino for an hr because the employee was steaming already burnt milk with no froth just air. Wished for more in the cute area its located it.
