The Dumpling Lady

Visited Dumpling Lady at the Optimist Hall on Saturday. The line was enormous during lunch time, but food was worth the wait. We tried spicy beef noodles, veggie steamed dumplings and dumplings with pork and chives. Everything was delicious. I loved that every type of dumplings had its own sauce. Portions are somewhat small for the price, but I guess its because of the location.
I can't explain how much I love Dumpling Lady's food. The dumpling are just so spicy and delicious, and I love the soup dumplings! I haven't mastered how to eat them without spilling the soup everywhere but I'm gonna keep practicing. The only thing about her stall at Optimist Hall is that the dumplings to stick to the paper plates, which kinda ruins them. Also, the line at the stall will always be long, and I don't care because I'll wait as long as it takes.
The lunch combo is a great way to try out the dumplings and noodles. I really enjoyed the pork and chive dumplings. Great flavor, reminded me of my time in China. I didn't like the noodles as much. It felt one note. I will definitely eat there again but stick to the dumplings.
Does it need saying? Dumpling Lady is a Charlotte staple. I love the sweet pork belly dumplings and all the spicy noodle options, especially. The smashed cucumber is a good side, if you want something refreshing to go with. Oh, and they do have frozen dumplings for purchase.
I really like the Dumpling Ladys sweet pork dumplings! They are my favorite though they can be pretty sweet so you need something else to eat with it to break up the flavor. Unfortunately, I think the soup dumplings are too big and dont have enough flavor to them. The dumplings break very easily when youre trying to get them out of the tin. The traditional way to eat soup dumplings are to dip the dumplings in the sauce and ginger, place the dumplings is a soup spoon, and then poke a hole to drink the soup and eat the dumpling. I would like that experience with the dumplings if they are calling them soup dumplings. Im glad that the Sichuan sauce is pretty spicy but theres not much depth to the broth.
