Join Charlotte Ballet for the start of our 2022/2023 Season with Fall Works! This program features three incredible works performed at every show. Fall Works features:
A Picture of You Falling by Crystal Pite
Described as “an illustrated narrative, spliced across time and space through the selective filter of memory,” Charlotte Ballet brings back this work by highly sought-after Choreographer Crystal Pite. Adored by Charlotte audiences last season, Charlotte Ballet is proud to perform this work again as one of the few companies in the US ever to do so. With a fascinating spoken word above Owen Belton's original score, this piece will leave the audience wanting more.
IN Cognito by Helen Pickett
Returning for the first time since its premiere in 2019, award-winning Choreographer Helen Pickett’s contemporary ballet will take you on an unforgettable journey. Inspired by the writings of North Carolina author, Tom Robbins, this work focuses on the duality of wanting, needing and not wanting nor needing to be seen. With music by the late, Oscar-nominated Johan Johannsson and Mikael Karlsson, and Pickett’s high spirits evident in the set, the return of this work created for Charlotte Ballet is sure to impress audiences while showcasing the skillful technique and artistry of our dancers.
Under the Lights by Christopher Stuart
Making its Charlotte premiere, we’re proud to show this story of the Man in Black. Experience Charlotte Ballet II Director Christopher Stuart’s “seamless blend of classical, modern and popular dance styles” in this tribute to the life, love and music of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. The strength of Charlotte Ballet artists, coupled with a soundtrack of your favorite Cash songs, will leave you loving the music of this legend – and Charlotte Ballet – even more.
