Do you remember where you were on July 20, 1969? This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the Moon. To commemorate the mission, Wingate University is hosting the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Aerospace Symposium on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. The event is free and open to all ages. 6:00 - 6:45 pm Narratives by Drs. Aldrin and Thornton Presentations highlighting the personal impact of Apollo 11 and how it shaped their lives.
7:00 - 8:15 pm Panel Discussion with Drs. Aldrin, Thornton, and Rice A panel will take questions from the audience discussing current aerospace initiatives, the newly announced decision to return to the Moon in the next 5 years, private vs. government space flight, among others.
8:30 - 9:30 pm Telescope viewing 8:30 - 10:30 pm A free movie showing of Apollo 11, The Documentary and Hidden Figures.
