Went to Les Miserables last Thursday. Staff were friendly and helpful. First visit to this venue. Wow! The protocol needs work! What a hot mess! Late attendees were seated during the performance! At intermission, the bathrooms were overflowing with people. There was no warning that intermission was coming to an end. The lights went out and the curtain was raised! Yup! Then, the stampede of 100 some people standing in the isles in the rows scrambling to get to their seats IN THE DARK! Oh, and the doors kept opening to let in all the other late-comers (people who were standing in line to use the bathroom)! Technical difficulties. Mics were not all functioning. Overall sound quality was poor. Parking $8. ***Update. Friends went Friday night and received an email to remind them to arrive early or on time. Bathroom situation was still a fiasco. They saw lights flicker to warn them Intermission was coming to an end. Keep on improving, Ovens!
The parking was very easy to access and leave soon after the show was over, which is always a huge deal after concerts in Charlotte. The venue was small enough to be intimate. I would love to see more artists here. We were in one of the back rows but the view was great and we didn't feel miles away from the stage.
Great venue for a more intimate concert or show experience. We've seen Jerry Seinfeld here, Brain Candy Live, and the Smashing Pumpkins. Smashing Pumpkins concert was eh but that was their fault, not the auditorium. But it was a great venue for Seinfeld and Brain Candy. Even in the last row you feel close enough that you can see and hear what's going on. Only complaint: bathrooms need updating!!
Neat venue that we attended for the Amy Lee Synthesis/Orchestra concert. Parking was easy and the lobby and food during the intermission period was nice. Only suggestion for those of us who sit up in the balcony area is mentioning that seating towards the wall and railing may impede your ability to see. We did not know there would be a HUGE rail in front of us in the balcony and this was incredibly disappointing and it was difficult to see for both of our purchased seats.
Love the facility. Nice auditorium with lots of parking nearby. Easy in and out. Not sure if it was Ovens or the group I saw, but the house sound was atrocious. Very tinny and thin. Show had a small orchestra and the double bass, cello, and anything with a low end were nowhere to be heard from the balcony railing.
