I was in Charlotte for business and selected this hotel because of its proximity to my temporary work location. Overall, it was a decent hotel. Breakfast was pretty good (eggs, sausage, bagels, oatmeal, and fruit). The hotel room/suite was a good size, but odd layout. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided in wall-mounted dispensers in the shower. (There are no travel-sized samples of these items that are normally found in a hotel bathroom.) Only a single small bar of soap was provided during my three-night stay. I literally had to carry the bar of soap back and forth between the shower and the vanity/sink, when I used it. Also there was no extra toiler paper provided...just a couple of partially consumed rolls (which literally were completely consumed at the end of my stay). Overall, it wasn't great, but not bad, either. I have certainly stayed in worse places.
The rooms were very neat and clean, the lobby had a clean smell to it. There was a small indoor pool with a small exercise room. They did have a snack bar area which you can always except to pay to much for the merchandise. The continental breakfast was wonderful. Plenty to choose from sausage, eggs, bagels, toast, juices, hot drinks, cereal and much more. The staff was all very friendly.
Overall the experience was average. The staff was very nice and helpful and the breakfast was great. My only complaint is the room was not very clean. The pull out sofa had dirty sheets with used floss sticks and Kleenex on it. The sheets in the room were stained. Other than that the hotel itself was decent.
Simple reservations were made. 1 request was made. Foam pillows. The request was an offering made by Marriott which went well ignored. The room had a mixture of feather/cotton pillows. Made front desk call to inform maybe was a simple mistake. Desk: "I will try to get someone to bring you some foam pillows" Me: "Would you like for me to bring them down?" Desk: "NO". 1 hr passes, I had to take them to the desk anyway. Even by doing so I ended up having 4 cotton pillows brought to me. Advise for Marriott properties are as follows-- It is not okay to accept specified reservations from people with special requests. Run a legitimate business and don't check people in if they're requests cannot be committed to. I would've have gladly checked in elsewhere to get a goodnights rest. Thank you --Joe H.
An ok place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is showing its age. The first day of our stay the hotel was overbooked and getting breakfast was a challenge. That improved the next day. The breakfast was average with them using processed eggs. The room had a weird layout which made it a little tight even for just two people. The bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping took good care of the room.
