Eat & Drink
The Accidental Baker
Neighborhood: Oakhurst
Following a successful pop up at the Metropolitan, this bakery now operates out of a space inside Sweet Spot Studio. Guests must order two to three days in advance and select an appointment for pickup. Owner Matt Cabana specializes in gluten-free goods including cakes, bagels and breads.
Albertine
Neighborhood: Uptown
Joe and Katy Kindred, owners of Kindred, Milkbread and Hello, Sailor, have opened an upscale Mediterranean restaurant in the Duke Energy Plaza. The menu features shareable meze, appetizers and pastas, plus larger proteins from the grill and sides. Reservations are now available on Resy.
Blasian Asian Way
Neighborhood: Camp North End
Once only a food truck, Blasian Asian Way is now operating as a food stall, too. On the menu, you’ll find Korean-American fusion dishes like bulgogi tacos, chicken wings, fried dumplings and rice bowls. This spot is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner.
The Chop Shop Butchery
Neighborhood: Myers Park
An Asheville-based whole-animal butchery, that practices sustainable and ethical farming, is now open in Selwyn Corners. Browse through the impressive selection of meats plus retail items like soup, pasta and sauces.
DŌZO
Neighborhood: Wesley Heights
The owner of popular food truck Katsu Kart now has a Japanese-American restaurant located right inside The City Kitch. With only 12 seats total, guests are welcome to dine in or order takeout. Menu highlights include okonomiyaki, crab fried rice and lunchtime bento boxes.
Hip Hop Smoothies
Neighborhood: Camp North End
Stop by for a smoothie made with no artificial flavors at this new airstream parked at Camp North End. As its name suggests, each smoothie is named after a popular hip hop song. You can also find Hip Hop Uptown inside The Market at 7th Street and on the East Side.
Mano Bella Artisan Foods
Neighborhood: Uptown
Having outgrown its kiosk at The Market at 7th Street, Mano Bella has moved to a larger space inside the food hall. Mano Bella now offers items similar to their menu in SouthPark, in addition to the popular build-your-own pasta option. If you want the “wow factor,” order the Pasta alla Ruota and watch as it’s twirled around in a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano.
Milkbread
Neighborhood: Uptown
The Charlotte area’s third Milkbread is now open inside Duke Energy Plaza. Open early morning through late afternoon, the well-known café offers chicken sandwiches, various toasts, salads and plenty of pastries. Order online for easy pickup.
Must Be Nice
Neighborhood: South End
Say goodbye to Lost & Found and hello to this new bar and lounge. Updates include new décor, expanded seating, more TVs and a food menu. Stay tuned on Instagram for upcoming events, like weekend DJs and Monday Night Football viewing parties.
Things to Do
Bliss & Blends
Area: East Charlotte
Formerly a pop up, you can now call your friends and schedule a wine bingo night at this new location. The shop also offers bottles for purchase and weekly wine tastings. Join them on Sundays for “Sunday Reset” featuring a yoga class and mimosas.
Glow Girl
Area: North Charlotte
Treat yourself to something nice at this new shop. Browse through necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings, or opt for a piece of permanent jewelry. Glow Girl also offers in-house engraving on certain items.
Kept & Co.
Neighborhood: Lower South End
Knock out a little retail therapy and beauty treatments at this South African-influenced med spa at The Platform at LoSo. Services include chemical peels and botox as well as a nail salon offering manicures and pedicures. Items available for purchase, like candles and cookware, are imported from South Africa.
