This is not the place to have your first jamacian food experience (respectfully) This meal was a let down. I ordered the veg roti w/brown gravy and a side of rice n beans. The sheer amount of thyme sprigs in the vegetable mix made it inedible b/c the sprigs and stems were like navigating fish bones. The pic attached is what I pulled out of mouth in FIRST fork full, Aside from that it was in desperate need of salt. The roti skin was fine slightly on the heavier side but fine, the texture of the rice and beans is good.

I ordered the oxtail and chicken combo with sauted vegetables and reggae rice. The meal overall was very flavorful and the portions were great. I had enough for 2 - 3 meals. The oxtails were seasoned well, but were a little fatty. The chicken was great and tender. The vegetables were cooked just right and I should have ordered a double portion. The meal was served with rice already, and I didnt need another portion of it. The price of the meal was about $50 including service fees, so Im not sure that Ill order it again. Overall, the meal was great and I will certainly try them again.

Speaking from experience, Fidels Authentic Jamaican Restaurant has the taste or true Jamaican food. I was so impressed that I ordered the same plate the next day. What I like most is that I order my Oxtails, white rice and cabbage with extra gravy and a half. My food was juicy from the first bite to the last. I am completely satisfied and Im about to order my Oxtails for a third time. Thereby, allow me to finish this post by saying, Theyre Great, and you should try Fidels Authentic Jamaican Restaurant IMMEDIATELY!

Great food and large portion sizes. We ordered the jerk chicken and brown stew chicken lunch specials and both were delicious with very generous portions! I would say they were dinner sized portions rather than lunch sized. We both got sides of rice and peas and mac and cheese which were both very tasty. The owner is super - we had a bit of a snafu with the groupon we bought and he was very accommodating and helpful. Parking was right out front which is always a nice surprise in Charlotte!

Fidels kitchen is simply put REALLY GREAT FOOD!. My experience with Choosing Mr. Fidel for my dining and catering needs was nothing less than exceptional! The food was exactly as I had ordered! Nothing looked or tasted at all out of place, and if you know us Jamaican people then you know that there was plenty of it! Where I live is very, very far from Fidels Kitchen restaurant, (3+ Hours one way) but I can honestly say that in a search for some proper island food to serve at my recent wedding, it was worth the drive every single time! I should have taken a picture of all the empty pans after my reception. All of my guests loved what they had been served. In fact, some of them unbeknownst to Mr. Fidel, had even ordered more of what they had the night before from his restaurant the next day! All in all, Mr. Fidel is a stand up guy with a golden spoon! Id hire him again 100 times over! Thank you again Mr. Fidel! #OutOfManyOnePeople
