Nellie's Southern Kitchen
- Open Now
Nellie’s, located just outside of Charlotte, is known for three things: providing true Southern hospitality to all diners; creating authentic cooking just like grandma would make; and the name comes from the matriarch of the Jonas family (yes, that Jonas family)
Cuisine Type: Southern
Ambience: Casual Dining
Staff needs to be trained on speed and efficiency. Family of 4, took 1hr and 20 mins for food to arrive. Simple order. We waited 28 mins for just drinks to be served. 3 people working the bar and no more than 9 tables. Not right. We had to remind staff on drink order once and twice on food. Down stairs wasnt busy so I dont think it was the kitchen being backed up. Just the staff getting distracted.
We had the most amazing experience hosting our rehearsal dinner at Nellie's Southern Kitchen! Due to COVID, we planned our rehearsal dinner week-of. Jackie was our coordinator, as well as our server, and she was such a joy to work with! The food was delicious and the room where our dinner was hosted was gorgeous (we did not bring any of our own decor- although you can if you would like). Nellie's allowed us to bring in an outside grooms cake and Jackie helped us cut and serve it. We cannot recommend Nellie's highly enough and are so grateful to them for hosting us on such short notice!
My friend introduced me to Nellies when I moved to Charlotte area last year. We have made it our go to place for Sunday brunch. The food is delicious, especially the home made biscuits . What makes it special is the manager Chad and his devoted staff, they make you feel so welcome. There is music and out door dining.

Picked this place because it was a halfway meeting point with friends. This placed turned out to be a gem. Relaxed southern atmosphere. The food was amazing. Service was amazing. I would recommend a basket of biscuits, all the desserts are amazing yes we had them all. The waffles and chicken were amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
My husband and I just relocated to NC from OR 3 weeks ago. Our realtor suggested we all go to Nellie's on Sunday for brunch. Oh wow! Delicious! We started with a basket of biscuits with homemade strawberry preserves, the other 3 at my table had the pimento cheese spread and loved it...not really my thing. But the chicken and waffles was sooo good! The chicken has an amazing crunch and salty wonderful flavor. The ambiance was also great, loved the 2 guys playing music with vocals and our waitress Mercedes was superb!!! The only thing I wouldn't order again was the Mimosa it was only okay. So glad Belmont will be our new home town, can't wait to eat at Nellie's Southern Kitchen again!
