Carolina Lakes Golf Club

We traveled in for the masters and stayed in Charlotte- we played The Tradition the day before we played here. This course is an absolute must- it is challenging, but fair. So many beautiful holes with lots of bunkers and you will find yourself taking some pictures on holes. Even if you are staying in Charlotte this is worth the 30 months drive. Greens are in really good shape and pro shop could not have been nicer.

Had an opportunity to practice and play a few holes last week. The changes to the golf course and practice facility are unbelievable. In my opinion Carolina Lakes now has one of the best places to work on your game in the greater Charlotte area.

Expensive.$49 for 9 holes. Challenging course. No real flat spots and tons of sand. Hard to make your way around--Where are the golf carts? Slow pace of play. Trash between holes, pretty much anywhere you look. Looks like they are tearing down the area in between holes. People from the neighborhood seem to just come out and play on whatever hole they want. Disappointing.

The course is great and the staff are very nice, but paying $100 for a tee time that's spaced out by 5 minutes is absurd. We were waiting the entire time and ending up leaving 3 holes early into a 4.5 hour round. The only time id think about coming back is if I can guarantee the first tee time, but since they stagger them, there's still a chance of waiting.

Overall experience was good. Enjoyed the course. Staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, had a red-neck threesome that had NO golf etiquette behind us. One walker was riding on the back of their cart. We had a slow two-some in front of us, that were obviously learning to play. So pace of play was slow. We would barely get our second shot off and they were already hitting off the tee box. The price you pay for playing a public course.
