Black-Owned Business Passport
In celebration of Black History Month, the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) is launching the Black-Owned Business Passport that will garner attention and drive foot traffic to participating black-owned businesses.

Submission deadline is Friday, January 5, 2024. Please note:
- No cost to participate!
- Visitors check-in independently, meaning no extra tasks for your team.
- Pass promoted heavily through a paid digital media campaign, 'Charlotte's got a lot' email and social channels, and media outreach.
To ensure a fantastic digital experience, please follow these participation guidelines:
- Be a Black-owned business.
- Have a consistent physical address for "check-ins."
- Operate a business that supports tourism in the region and draws in locals as well.
- Encourage visitor spending and tax generation in Mecklenburg County.
- Not eligible: appointment-only businesses, online retail without a storefront, food trucks without a fixed address/location, standalone events, event planning, marketing-focused or non-tourism businesses.
When submitting a photo:
- Use horizontally oriented (landscape) images, scaled and cropped square with a 2MB maximum file size.
- Active, authentic, non-posed photos are ideal, as well as a business store front. Photography featuring people looking into the camera or taking up most of the frame typically see lower engagement.
