Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is dedicated to the celebration and analysis of the strongest aspects of mid- century modernism as reflected in the holdings of the Bechtler collection.
Beautiful museum that often hosts free admission nights and events. My fave is the jazz nights in the lobby, great way to end a work wk with some live jazz. Went in a Wednesday night and they had free admission and live entertainment and food trucks on the front courtyard area. Was a lot of fun and great to see the art exhibits.
Will not go there again. I was informed that I could not take pictures there because of the focusing beam on a Sony A6000. The flash was not being used and I showed the volunteer that for the flash to be used, it had to be raised. As a result, I cut my visit short and complained at the front desk. They agreed that the individual was incorrect but they offered no solution . That was $15.02 of wasted money. Staff should be properly trained . Update - still haven't been back and never will.
Closed on Tuesdays. $9 for adults. Smallish collection but great way to spend an hour or two. Heather was super knowledgeable.
I really enjoyed this museum. It was smaller than I was expecting but I thought they laid out the exhibits very nicely. My favorite part was the sit down video exhibit on Lina Bo Bardi. It was absolutely beautiful along with all of the other exhibits. The museum was very clean and the staff was also very nice. If I ever go back to Charlotte, I will definitely pay them a visit again. I really recommend visiting here if you are visiting Charlotte as it doesnt take up much time and its a unique experience.
Eastway Eye Care
The first floor. cavernous and empty, except for multiple staff members behind the counter who cheerfully say that there's no entry after 4:30. Keep that in mind before you search and pay for parking. Other reviews say there is not much to see on floors 2 and 3. The 4th floor is closed right now.. will go to the nearby Mint next time.
