This post is brought to you in partnership with the Charlotte Ballet.
In Charlotte, locals and visitors alike can catch state-of-the-art performances and eye-catching productions, no matter what time of year. One of the leading arts and culture groups in the Queen City is Charlotte Ballet, a company made of 27 professional dancers. Led by Artistic Director Hope Muir, Charlotte Ballet is known for its powerful dancers showcasing everything from classic ballet to bold, contemporary works.
This season, audiences are invited to check out a "fairy-tailored" version of “Sleeping Beauty.” Running March 13 through March 22 at the Knight Theater, the production Sleeping Beauty – A Fairy-Tailored Classic will have lavish sets and costumes by designer Peter Docherty, Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky’s glorious score and an on-stage narrator. This production is perfect for first-time ballet goers and families.
The production has been abbreviated from its original three-hour length with a run time closer to two hours, including intermission. Matinee performances feature children’s activities, including DIY tutus and tiaras, in the lobby one hour before the show. Tickets range from $25-$96.
