The Protagonist Beer - NoDa is one of the new(est) microbreweries in the art district of The Queen City, NoDA. Protagonist is located right across the street from Growlers Pourhouse and the infamous Cabo Fish Taco on the intersection of 35th street and North Davidson street. They are open from Tuesday - Sunday, closed Monday, and beer cocktails, wine and snacks are also offered for the non-beer drinkers. I am an India Pale Ale (IPA) and sour/gose drinker, so the beers below is what I CAN REMEMBER I tried. ----------------- Maverick, 7.0%, IPA - American Mercury, 7.0%, IPA - New England / Hazy Juliane, 5.4%, Sour - Fruited ----------------- The Protagonist has a very wide array of beers that are brewed in-house and they are quite effervescent and tasty. The space is not that big, but it does give a 'clubhouse' feel and induces a cozy, yet spacious (enough) vibe. They have a long, linear bar that seats more than 10 people, inside booth seating, and outside/front porch seating for when it's nice out or you just want to people watch in NoDA; which is always fun and interesting. You really have one of the best seats in the house to view the eccentric and eclectic individuals that dwell and roam the streets of NoDA. If you do want a snack, I would recommend the DILL PEANUTS, but they do offer other delectable flavors. The service there is pretty awesome and I would say, top-notch. I can't remember the male bartender's name, but he always provides amazing service. All in all, I would, and have, recommended both locations of Protagonist to my family and friends, and I will definitely be returning very soon. Cheers MATE$! ...::: TrizzyO_o :::...

I stumbled on this gem while in the Noda area and was quite surprised. Very great customer service that was knowledgeable and attentive. There is a great selection on tap and I was able to sample a few beers. Even watching them can the brews was an experience within itself and cool to watch. I am definitely coming back while in CLT!

NoDa (and original) outpost of protagonist brewery. Serving up slightly off center takes on traditional styles. Beer is good and staff is super friendly. Cool place to sit and have a few drinks!

Craft beer clubhouse. Very friendly knowledgeable staff, only 2 house brews on tap the day I was there. They were solid flavors for each style, the saison was a little chill challenged. Loyalty program, more beer should be a great new spot in NODA area. Short walk from 36th street station. Update 7/31/21 Atmosphere still great, many brews across styles, something for all taste. Consistently smooth flavorful brews!

We had a spiffy time. We got here fairly early on a drizzly evening so it was empty other than than my friend and I. The bartender was very nice and chit chatted with us a bit. I really like the Bruce beer. It was a smooth, dark lager. Good flavor, not bitter. It was a perfect place to hang out in the early evening... by the time we left, the place was hopping but the bartender was still doing a great job. The bathrooms were clean as was the rest of the place.
